Never too old for Pokemon?

It is Saturday afternoon, so far it has been a relaxing day, but chores are waiting to be done (Sharon is expecting them to be done).  Our Christmas tree has been de-decorated, but is still sitting in our living room.  I could just grab it and yank it out - sending pine needles flying in every direction, but hey, two of my boys (young men) are sitting nearby so I say to them, "let's take the tree out before Mom gets home."  I got a response that I wasn't quite expecting from Alex, a Junior at North Central University, "Not now, Pokemon is on."

What? Huh? Pokemon??

I guess you are never too old to watch Pokemon.

While I was never a Pokemon fan I will admit there are certain cartoons that I'm still very fond of and will watch them whenever I run across them.  They include Underdog, Road Runner, Marvin the Martian, Tennessee Tuxedo, Quickdraw McGraw, the older version of The Jetsons and The Flintstones.

What cartoons bring back the kid in you?

blueishgreenishyellowishmostlyblueish

A lesson learned.  Sometimes I jump into things without really knowing what is going on - I take these risks because I figure that I'll either look very intelligent or.......make someone laugh.

I guess I was successful with the latter with my bluieishgreenishyellowishmostlyblueish post on Facebook yesterday.  I had no idea why everyone appeared to be posting colors for no reason.  Well, after I posted my color (actually, quite some time after) I found out that WOMEN were posting the color of the BRA the were WEARING for breast cancer awareness.  At this point I normally claim to be a genius, but I can only console myself with the knowledge that laughter is good medicine and I apparently made several of my female friends laugh.

You know what, I'll probably do it again.

Quick note to keep streak going.

I left the house this morning at 7:00 AM and didn't get home until 9:40 PM.....long day, but I couldn't let the streak end so soon.

I appreciate everyone who has visited my blog and posted messages.  I hope to be able to make replies to all of them very soon.

I'm headed to bed for some beauty sleep.  G'night all and God Bless.

P.S. Nick played very well tonight (LF JV basketball).

Mmmmmm Mongo's

Ungh, I'm so full I can hardly type.  After weeks of waiting my family celebrated with me at Mongo's Grill in St. Cloud.  I love that place.  Not the cheapest place to eat, but very very delicious.  What I love about it is that you create your own dish.  They've got a terrific selection of items (vegetables, meats, noodles, sauces).  Mmmmmmm.

After I completed my Graduate Certificate in Chemical Dependency Counseling I told my wife that I wanted to celebrate at Mongo's, but it was hectic, Thanksgiving was soon approaching so I decided to wait.....until after I passed my state LADC test.....which I did, but again, things didn't work out.  So then I decided that once I was hired we'd go....that came and went.  Last week I received my first official paycheck so once again, I wanted to celebrate.  Finally, tonight there weren't any other conflicts and we were able to go.  I guess I'll have to say it was worth the wait, but honestly, I wish we had been able to go on each occassion!!

What is your favorite place to go to when you want to celebrate something?

p.s.  it would be nice if at the end of your post you would type at least your first name, maybe last initial, it makes it easier to respond if I know who I'm responding to.  Thanks.

Watched Bolt....again

I watched the movie Bolt again today.

Have I mentioned that it is one of my all-time favorite movies.  It makes me chuckle, giggle and down right laugh out loud.  I've got so many favorite parts I don't know where to begin...when he is out on his own and thinks he sees the green eyed man on a bench and tries to karate chop him, but nothing happens....when he gets his head stuck and meets the redonculous phesants, er, pigeons....when Mittens gets knocked out by the mailbox....when Bolt asks, "What is this red liquid coming out of my paw?"...."Do I need it?"......When Mittens is threatening Bolt with the styrofoam and Bolt says, "That's a weird place to put a piano.".....when Mittens tells Bolt to trust him and he responds, "Not likely, you're a degenerative creature of darkness.".....when he learns the "dog face."....when Mittens tries to beg......Rhino (enough said).....I could go on and on and on and on, but you get the idea, right?

The beautiful thing about watching the movie today is that I used it for my work!  Yes, for my WORK!!  I'm brilliant if I do say so myself.  Actually, as a chemical dependency counselor I think the movie Bolt has a terrific theme for addiction recovery.  For years Bolt has been living a "lie", he must accept his situation and learn a whole new way of life.  Along the way, the cat he thinks is his enemy is actually someone who is vital in helping him, he has a central focus/goal and at a critical time, when he is feeling his lowest, a friend encourages him and keeps him going.  Very treatment oriented if you ask me, not only that, but now I'll have an excuse to watch it every month or so!

Is there a movie that you love to watch over and over and over?

Thirty Days

Tonight Sharon and I attended a new small group study.  Our study is based on the book One Month To Live: Thirty Days to a No-Regrets Life (by Kerry and Chris Shook).  I haven't read the book yet, but the introduction to the study really got me thinking.  What would I do, if I knew I only had thirty days to live?  Before I answer that I'll give you a chance to answer.  Post a comment, including your name so I know who you are, and I'll respond.

Family laughter

Last night was a great night.  My three boys (Zach, Alex and Nick) were home along with Zach's wife, Jess, and Alex's girlfriend, Melonie - together with my wife, Sharon, and I we played games and on a few occassions laughed until several of us were crying.  It doesn't get any better than that!

There was one time that all of us were laughing so hard, some were crying, some were having trouble breathing.  It lasted several minutes and when it ended we all asked eachother - what were we laughing about?  Nobody knew.  It started with one person giggling and making a silly noise that got another person gigglig and then another and another.  It was great fun.  Family laughter like that heals the body and soul in my opinion.

Another laughter outbreak was more between my wife and I.  We were playing a game called "What If".  It is a simple game.  All you need is a pen/pencil for everyone and a bunch of small pieces of paper.  Each person writes a "what if" question - anything at all (ex. What if all toothpaste tasted like fish? What if Sadie (our dog) started talking with a British accent?  What if Sharon was alergic to chocolate?  What if the Easter Bunny jumped through the window and started throwing eggs filled with flaming lava?)  Then all of the questions are placed facedown in the center of the table and each player picks a question to answer (can't answer your own).  The trick of the deal is once each person writes their answer on the back of the question paper you take turns, going clockwise, one player will read the question they picked up and the next person will read the answer they wrote to their question.  Sometimes it doesn't make sense or fit the question, but most of the time it does or is just simply hilarious.  All that being said.  What got Sharon and I laughing so hard was I wrote the question, "What if Terry knitted Sharon a sweater with his back hair?"  Sharon happened to pick up that question and shot me one of those "looks" and we just busted out laughing.  What made it even better and created another laughing outburst was Sharon's answer, "I would love it and hug it and squeeze it and call it George" (a classic line from a Bugs Bunny cartoon that I say often).

Bottom line - be silly, have fun.....LAUGH!

No excuses, no explanations

Great quote from Tony Dungy.  I've read Quiet Strength and am now reading Uncommon.  His philosophy of no excuses, no explanations is quite simple, yet powerful.  To me it means that you should do the right thing, for the right reason and then you don't have to have an excuse or an explanation.  Think about it.

Okay, this is my first attempt...

Check out this video of Bolt the Superdog.

What? Huh? Something about clutches....

What in the world am I doing?  It is my hope that I'm going to inspire others and show everyone it is okay to enjoy life by being a tad strange or a bit silly.  It is okay, you won't spontaneously combust.  My main focus will be to post items that entertain me and hopefully you as well.

As you might have figured out by the title, one of my favorite movies is Bolt.  Bolt is BE-AWESOME!!  If you haven't seen the movie it is a must view.  If I can figure it out I'll post some video clip links for you to enjoy.

I'll keep this brief, as I've got lots to try and figure out.

Check back often,
